Inspection day

Today was a relatively quiet day - after breakfast, we headed over to the Prescott airport for the final step in our race registration, which was the aircraft inspection. The inspection team, headed by Al the AI, went over the airplane and checked the radios, lights, engine and gear such as the tie downs. Our inspection was uneventful, and once the cowling was back on the plane, we installed our race number decals, and obtained the final sign off.

In the afternoon, Linda stayed at the airport to help out at the Girl Scouts event there, and Alison headed back to the hotel to study the race charts and flyby procedures. The day finished with a racers cocktail reception and barbecue at a beautiful country club in the hills. At the end of the evening there was a raffle to choose 24 teams who each get to ship 40 lbs of luggage each to the terminus for free, thanks to Susan Peck who will be flying a Pilatus over to Daytona beach and will take it all. All four Eastern PA teams won a ticket! We hope it's a sign of more winning to come...

We ran into team 12 at breakfast. They are from Maryland

Inspection is now complete so we can put on our race numbers.

Our lucky lizard came by to wish us well

Some the racers who volunteered for the Girl Scout event. We drew chalk runways at the girls flew the pattern.

Here is Heather Hill and one of the racers "flying" the pattern now.

They also got to check out one of the planes from Embry Riddle.

Just a nice view - planes, mountains and blue skies
